WHO WE ARE

Ecologically Bats is an environmental co-operative of independent consultants specialising in mammals, especially bats, otters, water voles, dormice and badgers; ornithology, amphibian and reptiles.  Collectively we have over 50 years' field, consultancy and research experience, and access to specialists in other fields, including entomology (insects) and aquatic invertebrates.

We offer a comprehensive field survey and data analysis service for a range of species, including all UK and European protected species, inputting into a wide range of projects from local planning and development to infrastructure schemes (e.g. roads and wind farms).    Areas covered include wildlife and habitat surveys, impact assessments, site and species monitoring and design and implementation of mitigation measures under appropriate licences where necessary.

Consultants hold appropriate species licences from Natural England or Countryside Council for Wales and all contracts are undertaken following codes of professional conduct of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (IEEM).    Members of the co-operative have good local knowledge and contacts through active membership of conservation groups in Cheshire and surrounding areas.

As part of Cheshire Mammal Group, Elizabeth Barratt, Val Cooper and Rob Smith are contributors to The Mammals of Cheshire (2008), published by Liverpool University Press.
